Experienced Viticulturist Vacancy: Part – Time

This is a privileged multi-faceted role for an experienced viticulturist to significantly contribute to the growth of successful vineyard and wine production ventures, and to deliver high-quality and high-skilled client services. The post holder will also provide input to viticulture related research projects.

Vinescapes: works predominantly in England with prospective, new and established wine producers to achieve outstanding wine quality and successful business ventures. We also work on projects internationally. Our staff and partners are trusted experts with international acclaim and years of experience delivering the highest quality grape growing and winemaking. As project managers, consultants, viticulturalists, wine makers, researchers and contractors we combine to bring our knowledge, expertise and passion to wine businesses. We provide vineyard assessments (land & climate), vineyard project management, viticulture consultancy, winery design & construction, business, research and training services.

They role will have responsibility for:

1. Viticulture services

a. Scoping and project management

b. Consultancy and mentoring:

c. Viticulture research

2. Business development:

a. Securing clients and networks to ensure a strong business pipeline

b. Developing a strong business profile in the UK and internationally.

As and when reasonably requested the post holder will be required to provide flexibility and the ability to work overtime, and to undertake any other reasonable and relevant duties from time-to-time.

Business requirements:

The candidate will be joining a dynamic enterprise and will be expected to grow the influence of the business. They should also expect their role to expand as the business develops.

Person specification:

We are seeking an energetic and passionate candidate who demonstrates significant scientific and practical viticulture expertise and has strong planning, communication and interpersonal skills. This role has strategic, scientific, management and hands-on requirements and therefore demands a high degree of flexibility, motivation, professionalism and dedication. The role is designed for a person who truly wants to add value and understands the importance of credibility, reliability and high-end service provision.

Experience and training:

• Educated to masters or PhD degree level, desirably in viticulture or wine science.

• At least 5-years’ experience in a senior viticultural position.

• A reasonable knowledge of the English wine production sector.

• A high level of data management and scientific analytical capability

• A foreign language would be desirable.

Business location centered around south-eastern England, the post-holder will often be required to work remotely, including internationally.
